I saw this gentleman, yesterday. He is an icon in the homeless community in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I don't know his name. Yes, it was very cold yesterday. He is supported at night by one of the local downtown charities. There were several people sleeping on the grass behind him, also, trying to stay warm. I decided to ask some local workers what they thought about this. The consensus was, it is his choice. I then asked if the 7/11 worker who was mugged by 7 of the homeless last month down the street, "Was it his choice, also." Silence. Apparently, people really don't what to address the issue. Freedom, a double-edge sword? What kind of society is it that cultivates poverty? That literally steps over the homeless to get into the local Starbucks? While people "discuss" the problem, no solutions seem to be on the horizon. We all are suppose to be content with the "social dog eat dog" philosophy which I call "social Darwinism." Good luck with that, today, April 29th, 2014.

Yesterday was Holocaust Remembrance Day. 71 years ago World War Two ended with 58 million deaths. Regardless of the motivation, I.E. current Israeli-Palestinian talks faltering, it is an acknowledgement...by an Arab leader. When the Palestinians take the bold move to "recognize" Israel like Jordan, Turkey, and Egypt they will find that their struggle will come to an end. The Jewish and Arab society can then move forward toward a true peace and start the long road toward reconciliation. It requires a change in belief systems and Abbas has taken that step. That's how I see it, April 28th, 2014.
Levi Pongi, a native of the Republic of Congo and a college student from Wyoming, died in Denver last week. He was 19 years old. He and his friends drove to the "mile high" city to try marijuana. He actually ate an entire "cookie" and then flipped out. He jumped out of the hotel window. So, I asked you, is the life of one person worth the "legalization" of pot in Colorado? Oh, it wasn't your friend or son who died? Who cares? So what! Well, mark my words, this is just the beginning. They have already tested the pot strains being invented here in the Rocky Mountains and it is some of the most potent THC in history. The moral dilemma is obvious. While the State of Colorado experiments with "regulation" of this new booming industry, 4/20 followers can take refuge in the fact that "they" just took a life. Pitty, they were all to "high" to care. That's the way I see it, today, April 24th, 2014.
Chicago is at it again! Give me a break! Over the Easter weekend, in two days, the wonderful people of Chicago managed to shoot 45 people and kill nine of them. 9 or 10 of the victims were children. So, I ask you, is our existential threat of terrorism from overseas real? Does it justify the spending of ka-billion of dollars to fly drones over Yemen and blow people up with million dollar missiles? At home, here in the United States, our cities are disintegrating before our very eyes. We are becoming accustomed to violence and are accepting it as the "status quo" of our nation. And that is the problem. If we allow our country to become a "free fire zone" like Chicago, then, yes, we are in big trouble. The solution is surprisingly simple. Either use all the resources at your command to bring an end to this violence or go buy a gun. Either way, you will have to defend yourself. That's the way I see it, today, April 23rd, 2014.
Well, Vice President Biden made his way to Kiev today. Wow, now we are sending point blank messages to Russia using our "fearless" leaders. What a joke. Believe me, when I say this, rhetorical diplomacy backed up with platitudes of promises and empty threats (read Red Lines) is just plain STUPID. Whoever won a fight with a bully by talking to them?
I just do not get it. Is my concept of the world so confused that I do not see reality, or did Russia occupy the Crimea two months ago? I think the Obama administration needs to hire some conservatives to help them get out of this mess. Minor prediction: Russia takes over Eastern Ukraine by the end of the year and continues selling natural gas to Europe. That's the way I see it, today, April 22nd, 2014.
Easter is a time for renewal. Christ died, arose, and will come again. For the one billion plus Christians across the world it is a reminder that we all can do better. Here in the U.S. we tend to over capitalize the holiday with bunnies, candy, and Easter egg hunts. It is our culture. And it is fun! While we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, we should also try to resurrect ourselves. This is a good place to start. Try to forgive others so that you can move forward in your own personal life. Letting go of the past, living in the present, and plan for the future. Make this world a better place by taking care of yourself, your family, your friends, and the community you live in. Reflect. "Pay it forward." That's how I see it, April 19th, 2014.
This week is Passover, a Jewish holiday. For those of you who do not know about it, it is a holiday celebrating Moses taking his people out of the land of Egypt. In short, it is a holiday about FREEDOM. While the Islamic culture does not have this holiday per se, the "Arab Spring" has come to symbolize the same thing, FREEDOM. The old rules are no longer applicable. All across the Arab and Muslim world people are demanding what Thomas Jefferson summed up in 1776 with the Declaration of Independence.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

The United States is a leader in many things, but this one is not what we want to be known for. In fact, the government and the media would prefer if I didn't write this article. Facts are facts. The worldwide incarceration of people sits around 9.8 million with the U.S. representing a staggering 25% of this number. That's right, nearly one out of every four prisoners worldwide is sitting in a U.S. jail. Oh, I forgot to add that another 4.8 million are on probation. If you want to be ashamed of this country and the fear that it lives in, consider this. Your society treats dogs and cats better than its own people. Pathetic. Here is the worse part. You will read this, probably forget about what is being said, and just move on with your life. The prisoners are out of sight, locked up, suffering on their own. They are also expected to be model citizens after they are released, except that their resume prevents them from getting hired. It is high time that we look at alternatives for changing the environment we live in before it is too late. We need to make changes, we need to find solutions, and build a better society. It starts with you. It starts today. Why don't you go to your local prison and volunteer? Hmm, scarey. That's the way I see it, today, April 17th, 2014.
If you think these people are your friends, think again. Nigeria suffered a terrorist attack recently in their capital, Abuja. 71 injured and countless wounded. This particular attack was perpetrated by Boko Haram, an Al Queda affiliate. FYI Al Queda translated means "the base." The base of stupidity, medieval theology, terrorism, religious zealotry, and a total warped concept of God. Until the Muslim countries of the world start taking responsibility for their creation, unfortunately, we are in for a "long ride."
It is possible, however unlikely, that these knuckleheads will take the world into World War Three. Another major success like 9/11 and I can absolutely guarantee you an overwhelming response. It will not be fair. Many people will perish and we will then be off and running. The "religious war" against the West started by Arafat and Kohlmeni now has momentum. Al Queda has become a brand like Starbucks and is even now more influential. The New Crusade has begun. And, that's the way I see it, today, April 16th, 2014.
Well, it is a world phenomenon now, chaos. You can not turn on the "boob tube" without seeing some country or city having a nice little riot. All across the globe millions of people are taking to the streets. Sometimes, but not often, the outcome is for the better. However, if you take a careful look at the situation, regardless of your particular feeling about religion, politics, nationalist philosophy, or whatever agenda holds true to you...why aren't these people at work? Oh, they don't have a job! So, let's riot!
Your country, government, dictatorship, whatever you have, better provide you a way to survive or you will be forced to provide your own. A nice little Syrian civil war, a little Russian revolution in Ukraine, a Greek austerity riot, a slum riot in Rio, or an inflation riot in Caracas...it is all the same. Governments across the planet are failing to provide for the people, and now the people are voicing an opinion. The collective consciousness of the masses have now put you on notice. As Dr. Phil would say, "How's that working out for ya?" That's the way I see it, today, April 15th, 2014.
