O.K., I will just cut to the chase! Which dork do you want to vote for? Which family dynasty do you believe in? Which "corporate" insider do you prefer? Which one of these knuckleheads has the most money? Who tells a better lie? Which one of these public suckers really cares about YOU? If you do decide to vote seventeen months from now, yes 17, do you really feel either the Democrats or the Republicans know what they are doing? Can you prove it? Or, are you just going to "play the game?" Let's face it, American politics is now a joke. The American "two party system" is beyond broken. It is downright corrupt, period. The fallacy that we live in a country that "cares about you" has long been lost. The Constitution is just a piece of paper, right? Who cares? Come on! I ran an experiment over the past months asking young people just basic questions about politics and history. Most of them were polite enough to hear me out, but just didn't care and told me they don't intend to vote. They promptly then returned to their cell phone text message. Most of the "young people" are totally disillusioned with the present state of affairs. Can you blame them? Most of them are trying to survive off of "service jobs," still live at home, or are trying to get out from under their "college debt." Here is a little prediction. Come November 2016 you will see the smallest voter turnout in history, the "knuckleheads" will continue to rule, and "stupidity" will rule the day. That's the truth as I see it, today, June 24th, 2015.
It is with a heavy heart that I write this article. Once again, the people of the United States are subjected to a horrible killing spree. And while the media hypes up its frenzied hyperbole the truth is still being ignored. I will not get into what I believe are some of the underlying causes behind what I consider "the breakdown of American society." What I do want to discuss is my utter amazement and disappointment in the "American journalistic system." Once again, the media is stepping all over itself in order to "hype up" the public on their new found "story." Hour after hour, day after day, the reporting goes on with an almost insatiable appetite. The media clamors for glory and details in order to "up their ratings" and thereby collect more "revenue." They simply can't get enough of it. Two weeks from now, when the "story" no longer sells, they will move on to something else. Some other tragedy, some other mess. Meanwhile, it is my opinion that this continual form of mindless "reporting" simply legitimizes the "killers" and in actuality, inspires more. Yes, if you connect the dots, the "media" is, and painfully so, partially responsible for murder. Yes, murder. Whenever you legitimize and lend attention to a tragic event you create another illusion. My advice to CBS, NBC, ABC, FOXNEWS is to stop it! Do not give these perpetrators their five minutes of fame, ignore them. But, as you and I both know, that would not be realistic, at least not in today's journalistic atmosphere. The truth, however painful, is right in front of you. The U.S. media is committing murder every day by NOT reporting the "real story." The story they don't want you to read. The story about the great people of South Carolina. That's the truth as I see it, today, June 22nd, 2015. May the nine souls of Charleston, South Carolina, rest in peace. You will not be forgotten.
Every year in the United States 40,000 people decide to take their own lives. The military suicide rate is, at the low estimate, 22 per day. So, every week, at a minimum, 154 soldiers and vets die at their own hand. At present, the suicide rate in the "greatest country on earth" is at its highest. In no stretch of the definition, the public at "large" is ignoring the problem. There are many contributing factors, none at which are clear cut. The economy, unemployment, the continuous war footing, the lack of family structure, drugs, alcoholism, are all part of the problem. However, the biggest factor contributing to this abhorrent issue is society's lack of concern coupled with lack of action. Currently, the only ongoing anti-suicide campaign that I see in the public arena comes from the Veteran's Affairs and the Gary Sinese Foundation. One particular fact should be noted, suicide is the number one killer of young people ages 14 to 25. So why is it that the media will not talk about it? How come it does not make the "news" when little Johnny kills himself? Why is it that no one will pay attention until little Johnny decides to take down massive amounts of people as in the Colorado theater shooting. Here is the answer and it is scary. The news media can not give you a "feeding frenzy" and hype the public up with just a single suicide. Disgusting isn't it? It you really care about this situation start at home, at your Church, at your Synagogue, at your local community, and start to make a difference. Get the topic out front and center! Unfortunately, by the time I finish and publish this article another soul will be lost. Hey, it could be your friend, someone you know at work, maybe even a family member! So, get on it! Do something, just don't sit there and go to the next FB posting! That's the way I see it, today, June 12th, 2015.
