I write today to share my despondent feeling about another war breaking out. I guess what bothers me is that most of the people in the West are just T.V. spectators. Right now, as I sit in front of the boob tube, ISIS fighters are encroaching on the Turkish border. CNN is showing a live battle and we are watching, live, people being killed on a ridge top. So far, Turkey has absorbed 1.5 million refugees and has managed to stay out of the battle. That probably won't last for long. What I find puzzling is that Turkey has chosen, so far, to stay out of the fray. It is a Sunni nation and ISIS is Sunni. I wonder if that is part of the problem. Having said that, Saudi is Sunni and has chosen to fight ISIS. I hate to give ISIS credit for anything, but they have found thousands of men who are willing to die for their cause...and the movement is growing. If Turkey makes a full commitment to fight ISIS we might see a change in the battle. But, so far, Turkey has been quite explicit in avoiding any involvement outside of "humanitarian" issues. The ideological basis which makes up the ISIS is simple. Establish a medieval Caliphate, kill anybody in the way, and use any means possible. It is a Sunni movement. Sooner or later, you will see the Shiites get involved, that is inevitable. Oh, I forgot, Iraq is Shiite! In my previous writing I have warned people about the onset of World War Three. I urge you not to take this lightly. If Turkey gets involved, if the Gulf states are threatened along with its oil supplies, major powers from all over the world will reassess their positions. In addition to ISIS battlefield successes, Muslims outside of the area of conflict are taking sides, and this, unfortunately is a very big problem. Right now, live on T.V. people are cheering about the battle going on. Sort of like a soccer game. Yea Ha! Are you kidding? That's how I see it today, trying to understand it, August 26th, 2014.
